Our Rail Services Team was engaged by new client to assess the wheel condition of a passenger car, to reduce the asset down time by providing on-site maintenance, during the scheduled maintenance period.
Once they have analysed the current wheel profiling, using the Calipari wheel laser for accurate data and tracking, our team discussed the finding with the client, and advised our client on the recommended reprofiling for the assets, along with an estimated timeline for the lathing process.
Once permission was provided to access the track and asset, with confirmation of appropriate track isolations our team then applied all safety requirements and barricading to ensure safety not only of the NGL team but provide a clear exclusion zone keeping all personnel safe and from potential risks.
In this case the customer has informed us that the wheel was deemed to have many flat spots. Our team machined four wheelsets, while the asset remained on a sleeper Carriage that had been damaged while the sleeper car was not in operation. The machining process is performed using a single cutting tool, controlled by a CNC system.
The lathe’s functional capabilities allow for machining of locomotive wheelsets according to our clients profile drawings, ensuring optimal accuracy.
Upon completion, we conducted a formal handover, removing any isolations, and clearing up any debris and waste from the operational site. A final detailed wheel report was the provided to the customer for their records detailing the wheels where machined and wagon fit for traffic with no impact to operational use.
This project involved the delivery of multiple steel conveyor truss units from Perth to Paraburdoo, a remote mining region in Western Australia. The total transport distance exceeded 1,600 kilometres and required detailed planning and execution to ensure compliance, safety, and efficiency throughout each stage of the journey.

The process began with an initial inspection of the assets. We observed the wagons for normal wear, corrosion, and structural damage. This was followed by a detailed brake system inspection, including examination and testing of air hoses, cylinders, and rigging. We ensured that all components could be repaired or maintained in accordance with relevant Australian industry standards.
Our Aerospace team successfully managed the comprehensive, door-to-door transportation of a Civilian 332 Super Puma Helicopter along with its accompanying Fire Tank Crate. This complex operation began in Canada and concluded in its final destination of Newcastle, NSW, Australia, where these essential assets will play a crucial role in aiding our client’s efforts to protect communities during Australia’s challenging summer fire season.

NGL Projects recently executed the complete delivery scope for FMG’s newest batch of ore cars (234). The wagons were manufacturer in northern China, shipping out of Dalian and delivered to Port Hedland where NGL commissioned them on track.
